I believe that typography is art. Texts without good typography may not attract readers efficiently. It doesn't mean that readers don't care about content of texts, but typography would influence readers in silence.
I have this kind of experience before. I had read a book which is thought highly by others. I sometimes really wanted to quit. I didn't think the book is bad but I couldn't stand the typography of it. The publisher made content too crowded. And it made me uncomfortable.
We can also see the example of two resume which mentioned in the book. Good typography could even help us to get chance.
Making good typography is also art. I think the most important point of typography is that good typography should be suitable for content. From the example of highway signs, we know that typography should depend on goal of content.
When we do inforgraphic, we need these knowledge of typographic. Infographic is used to present the main idea of text. It need typographic. And the typography of infographic is also need to suit the content.

How was the infographic different from the video lecture?
- Which was a more enjoyable experiece?
Comparing with video lecture, infographic is very simple and clear. We can always catch the mean point in a well done inforgraphic. Designer could high light important thing to help audiences to realize complex data. When we listen a video lecture we may lose something if speaker didn't emphasis them. And there is much unnecessary information which would distract attention.
However, infographic is more boring than a video. In a video lecture, speaker could use any possible media as he/she like. It could be very powerful to convey different information by different media.
To sum up,infographic could be easier for me to comprehend because it is designed to convey information in a strong way; whereas video lecture would be a more enjoyable experience due to its rich expression.

1) Outline the infographic essay
paragraph-by-paragraph as if it were a traditional, text-written essay

Body: 1. Shelter dogs are looking for a good home.
2. Shelter dogs are more grateful for their master then pedigree.
3. Mixes breeds have less health problems than purebred dogs.
Conclusion: Please adopt a shelter dog if you are ready to keep a dog.

- audience: People who are ready to keep a dog.
- stance: Objective
- genre: Web pages
- media/design: Web site
3) While you are only outlining the essay--not writing it word-for-word--you can still get a feeling for what this essay would look like. How is the infographic different from the traditional essay you outlined?
Infographic is more vivid and clearly than text. Infographic colorful and attract readers' attention.
4) Strengths and weaknesses of the infographic: what does the infographic do better than the essay? What does the essay do better than the infographic?
Inforgraphic is more easier to understand than essay. And it's quicker to get information from image.
However, essay could be more detailed. Essay could explain the infographic.
5) How does this qualify as an essay and not a series of pictures?
Because it has words. Infographics are tools to make essay more brilliant.

Music is Universal
Music is a universal language. Almost everyone
could understand the meaning in music without knowing the other countries’
language.
In
the past, people should go to the theatre to enjoy the music. Then here came
the magnetic tape and CD. Then, we could download the music from web, most of
them free. We can enjoy the music much more easily. We can also share the music
between many platforms like YouTube and iTunes.
It
is convenience that web 2.0 bring to us. However, the musicians are not happy
to see that. Because they couldn’t get the benefit they could get after they
upload their music to web. Then everyone could download them without pay for
them. And it’s very common in China.
So
I think we need to set a perfect system to pay for music to protect musicians
then they will create more music.

Convenience or Privacy?
This is a time that full of data. Data
provide us tons of information. Data brings us big convenience. We could build
a perfect profile on web site like Match.com or OkCupid depending on data from The Data Miner’s Guide to Romance.
However, we
need to pay for this. It’s more difficult for us to protect our privacy. It
seems every people surfing online could get our data. Every company could use
our data. Here is a phenomenon called “Ren Rou Sou Suo” in China. It means netizens
could find a specific netizen’s real name, address and any other information by
his/her exist information online. It’s sounds terrible.
While
enjoy the convenience from data collection, we should strengthen the awareness
of protecting the data safety.

Entry 2 Punk movement and web 2.0
I had little
knowledge about Punk before. So I was confused about what’s the relationship between
Web 2.0 and the punk movement at the first. However, after reading Safety Pin as Signifier and doing something
about punk, I thought I got something.
Safety Pin as Signifier is
talking about the development of punk. In 1977, punk emerged with a strange way.
”…Men and women alike wore short hair that had been cut seemingly at random and
dyed unnatural colors. Flesh was pierced in sundry locations, at times with
safety pins…”
Punk’s appearance
was due to be against the pop music which has already exists like progressive
rock or heavy metal. It was a rebel movement on music. They thought those
musician were put themselves in a high position. On the contrary, everybody
could join in punk. They sang what they want to sing. They were independent. With
time went by. Punk got developed and became an important part of music.
In the main
time, web 2.0 was also a revolution. It does have some similarities with punk. Web
2.0 emerged to rebel the form of web 1.0, which just provided information. Web 2.0
allowed everyone to involve in social net-work. People can join in and enjoy
it. Social 3.0 even did more. It was interactive.
Here are my
thoughts about punk movement and web. I was amazed that there could be a
relationship with such two different things.

Response of social 3.0
After reading this article, the first thing I think about is Google Drive.
I began to use Google Drive last year. I didn't consider about the development of web that time. I just thought it was so cool. Every students could share their opinion on it. And we can edit it synchronously. We don't need to write our own documents and upload to website.
Now, I knew it was a big step of social net work. It's the time of Social 3.0.
Communication between people become more convenient and efficient.
Few years ago, online meeting provided great convenience for international trade. We never thought that we can really do something together — in real-time, simultaneously, synchronously.
The growing of web promotes the development of world. In the mean time, better world makes the web stronger.
